1. Please keep swearing to a minimum. A little is fine, but don't swear every other word and nothing extreme. This applies to siggys and avatars as well. Unsuitable pictures will be removed and a warning issued. (See below for more rules on graphics)
2. Be polite to everyone. Especially the admins, after all we keep this board up and running! If you are going to have an argument in OOC please do it through PMs. We do not want to see arguments throughout the board because this ruins both our reputation and messes up our boards.
3. Please use our RPing/typing guidelines when posting (see below)
4. No Godmoding. This means you are not allowed to play other characters to inflict what happens next.
(ex.)
Petrificus totalus! Ron said. His spell hit Harry and Harry fell to the ground
Instead:
Petrificus totalus! Ron said. His spell was aimed at Harry, Ron hoped it would hit him.
This gives the other person a chance to dodge an attack or have their own reaction to whatever you did so you are not controlling them like a "God".
5. Mary Sues/Gary Sues or John Does are also not allowed. This means that you're not always perfect so don't act like you are. Here's a saying for you people like this: Next time you think you're perfect, try walking on water (no, not frozen water).
6. Please remain active. I will be doing activity checks occasionally and will delete accounts. If you will be absent for more than a month, please let me or another admin know. You will be allowed to re-register after you've been deleted.
7. Multiple accounts are NOT allowed.
8. I do not want to see your users with just a first name, or a name with numbers. Your character's name needs to be like a real student. You may user names like hp12 but you must have a different display name.
9. If you are given a password, do not give it to anyone else unless if that person is a fellow house member/professor. That's only if your fellow house member forgot it.
10. Most of all, have fun! We hope you enjoy your stay here on the Magical World of Hogwarts!
TYPING/POSTING RULES
When talking as your character, please use whatever color font that you would like. Surround your words with "Quotation marks". (ex.)
"Hello Ginny! What have you been up to?"
When you are doing actions type regularly. (ex.)
Harry walked up to Ginny and smiled.
DON'T use asterisks*'s (ex.)
*walks over to Ginny and smiles*
When you are talking out of character (and you should be in character most of the time) please use one of these. (ex.)
OOC: Do you think Hermione's pretty?
((Do you think Hermione's pretty?))
[[Do you think Hermione's pretty?]]
{{Do you think Hermione's pretty?}}
And lastly, when typing please do not type in text
like this:
how r u?
Please type it like this:
How are you?
This will make this site very sloppy if you write like this.
11. Do not use short cuts (as stated above) or chat speak in RP, but you may in OOC and in OOC boards, since it's like everyday talk.
12. Make sure your posts are kept safe. No giving out any information about yourselves unless it's a photo or something else minor, no credit card numbers or addresses.
13. A few misspelled words is fine, we all know no one is perfect. But please spell correctly. You can even use the spell check button. Use it as often as possible.
14. Do not write just one sentence in your post. These are called "one-liners". Try to at least keep these to a minimum. Please write neat paragraphs.
15. If you choose to leave the site, I do not want to see you leaving a post saying "I'm not coming back" or something like that. Just delete you account it's that simple not complicated.
16. Drugs, suicide, murder, rape, alcohol abuse, teacher/student relationships, teenage pregnancy or child abuse are absolutely not allowed on the site. Fire whiskey and such are drinks, you may become a bit tipsy as this is normal (trust me my mother becomes a whole different person after just two small glasses of wine) but please not drunk using violence, etc.
17. No lesbians or gay men. This is, I know, based on your opinion, but keep it to yourself, please.
18. If you are religious in any way please try not to mention it because it may be offensive to some people.
19. Banners should not take up most or all of a screen in regular posts.
